Landowner Request for Cost-Share Assistance

Thank you for showing interest in implementing a conservation project on your property

Please fill out the form at the bottom of this page to the best of your knowledge. This form is the first step on the cost-share application process and will provide us with the information that we will need to determine your eligibility for cost-share assistance.

What is a Cost-Share?

Cost-share assistance is funded by the Washington State Conservation Commission and the Washington Department of Ecology, as well as other agencies through the Ferry Conservation District. This financial assistance helps landowners improve their farm, ranch, or private property to better conserve riparian areas, water quality, and habitat which in return improves natural resources that many of us rely on for business and recreation. The Ferry Conservation District will pay up to 75% of the cost for eligible projects.

Eligible Project Examples

  • Fencing (exclusion fencing along streams/rivers)

  • Stream Habitat Improvement and Management (root wads, toe logs, vanes)

  • Stream Bank Stabilization and Shoreline Protections, Restoration, and Management of Declining Habitat (grass and riparian plantings)

  • Direct Seed and Conservation Cover

  • Off-Stream Stock Watering Facilities

  • Hardening of Animal Crossings and Weed Control

What to Expect Next

After filling out the form we will contact you and discuss your project and financial needs. When funding becomes available, we will schedule a site visit to determine your eligibility for funding. If your project is eligible, we will start the application process. Next, your project plan will be presented to the Board of Supervisors for funding approval. If approved, a letter of notification of said approval will be mailed to you, along with a letter of acceptance and the Application/Agreement. We ask that you sign and return the latter two documents within 14 days.

Do NOT begin work on the project until you sign and return the letter of acceptance and the Agreement to the District.

It is your responsibility to keep track of all materials used, and work done contracted work, and your labor (to be used as part of your 25% match). Forms will be provided for this purpose. Once your project has been completed and inspected by the Conservation District Staff, you will submit a record of work done including paid receipts. Reimbursement for up to 75% of costs takes up to six weeks.
